A quick overview about what is the issue with Once Driven and why people think it is a scam:

WHAT THE COMPANY OFFERS:

Consumer is contacted by an agent from once driven.

Agent offers the person who is selling the car that they will advertise their car via different media strings. This includes: Social media, local directories, classifieds and also local websites.
Agent ensures the person selling the car that the car is at a good price based on the car’s descriptions/kilometer/conditions.

The sales representative makes assurance that they can have your car sold for you at the price that you are asking.

The company asks you to pay an upfront fees of $189 for the advertisement.

After you pay this $189, they will start advertising your car.

Once they get a qualified buyer that wants your car, they will provide your contact information for the person interested in buying the car.

If they send you a buyer and the person buys the car from you, they get to keep the $189 and your ads gets cancelled automatically.

If you sell the car to someone that came from your own advertisement within 45 days from the day they started advertising your car, they will refund you the $189 less $29 service fee. Total: $160.

If car is not sold within the 45 days period, they keep the $189 and they will continue advertising your car until is sold.

WHAT IS THE FRAUD OR SCAM:

1) If you decide not to sell your car anymore, they get to keep the $189.

2) If the car did not sell for the money that you wanted, why did you pay them $189 in first place?

3) The reason why you paid the $189 in first place was because they called you and ensured you that your car is at a good price and that they can sell it for you.

4) Company never delivers qualified buyers to the customer selling the car within the 45 days and they keep your money.

5) At the end, car doesn’t sell at the expected price. (The price that Once Driven told you that was good. And because of that you gave them your money.)

6) At this time the refund period expires and the only solution is to lower the price of your car.
7) At the end, the customer still did not sell the car at the expected price and now the customer is now $189 lower.

8) After 60 days, customer is not able to make credit card claim.

9) Their rules and regulations are made in a way that are within the law and a protected as a service provided and cannot be refunded.

10) Take a look at this video that explain in detail how the scam works.
