Exiting Journalists, Plunging Ad Revenue Threatens Newsweek

The Newsweek Media Group is having a bad week.
First came allegations of fraud, then a raid by the Manhattan District Attorney…
And then the termination of two senior editors who wrote articles the company executives did not like.
The Media Group, which owns Newsweek and the International Business Times, then lost hundreds of thousands of dollars in ad revenue.
After which, Newsweek’s head of sales, Ed Hannigan resigned for his post.
The company’s problems were sparked by a BuzzFeed report alleging the company had purchased traffic and committed ad fraud.
Newsweek admitted to buying traffic but has denied the fraud.
Advertiser pullback came after the firing of individuals involved in articles investigating the magazine’s finances.
The investigators were trying to figure out why the Manhattan DA had raided them and taken away their servers.
